This made me laugh harder than anything in a while. Thanks to whomever put this together.

Actually, a nuclear bomb beat paper.

Dan, I don't mean to be argumentative but the nuclear bomb ended the war with Japan after the war in Europe was already over.

...I Was being argumentative after all. I apologize for that.

actually, the war with Japan was already on the way down even before the usage of the nuclear bomb. The nuclear bomb was a pre-emptive attack because the US govt wanted to "get things done with NOW!"

a.r. After four years of war, the term preemptive is not applicable. The term "winding down" is also equally misused. The U.S. had not yet invaded the Japanese home island for which they would have fought to the last person (yes I mean man, woman, and child) had their emperor asked them to do so. How many more Americans would you liked to have seen die for that and do you think that if anyone else had "the bomb" they would not have used it? Please be careful with your attacks against the U.S. government.

So, the winner got half of Berlin and couple JP islands. Now, guess who? ;-)

I guess Kevin is right. I dunno exactly but the nuke was in retaliation to what Japanese did to the hundreds of cadets at Pearl Harbor. Otherwise, I could not find any reason to nuke the country.
