Attic Construction: the Pictures
Sunday, 12.27.09 @ 02:00PM Things aren't totally settled, but we've done enough so that I feel OK showing you some pictures of what the girls and I have done with their new rooms upstairs. It's been almost a year since I took the first step in getting this done. The 'little yellow house" is now the "big yellow house." This is the TV room, seen as you're facing the stairs. I've put lace curtains up since this photo was taken, and the girls have hung a little art.
I don't know why they have the chairs placed so eccentrically. They will fit along the wall, but it's their flophouse. Next, here is Princess' bed, nestled under the roof slant.
Those are not cracks in the ceiling but peacock feathers. Next is the other side of her room with a daybed. She has about decided to take it out in order to have a desk over there.
Her "second closet" is where the water heater is, but she has a little personal storage space there. Her pride and joy is the recess where the front window looks out on the street. She calls it her "reading nook", with a bookcase, rocking chair, and floor lamp.
Gothgrrl and Cowgirl share the bigger bedroom and its double walk-in closet. This side belongs to Cowgirl.
And this side to Gothgrrl. You might notice that one is "team Jacob" and the other is "team Edward."
The one thing they agree on is lime green- they both love it. I don't, but I don't have to look at it, either. I didn't take pictures of the bathroom because it's long and narrow and I can't get anything worth looking at in a frame.
The cats are now used to the upstairs. They spend most of their time up there with the girls, or just laying on the beds, which they aren't allowed to do downstairs. We think Biscuit might even be losing weight going up and down!
No, we haven't seen the contractor in a couple weeks, even though we called him when we found a window leaking during the rain. Mr. Spouse has resigned himself to installing the basement insulation himself. We still have rocks, dirt, and garbage to get rid of outside, which may take some time in this cold.
