Lists of the Decade: Science

You might not realize it in your day-to-day life, but the last decade brought some big science happenings. The CERN Large Hadron Collider went online and almost immediately broke down (but it didn't destroy the universe). The Phoenix Lander not only went to Mars and found water, but also used Twitter to tell us about it. We went back to the moon, if only by remote control. We mapped our genes and tried out bionic body parts. Creationism found its way into public school science classes. Global warming is a "hot" topic, with some calling it a hoax and others worrying about its effects. New species were discovered, both living and prehistoric. And we gazed in awe at the cosmos, like we always did.
