Ah yes, that rite of passage. Dad fell asleep, and I stayed up late enough to shut down a TV station. Take THAT!

Of course the tone would always wake the old man up again, and then I got it but good. Tried the other method, where you wait until the whole house is asleep and creep out there to watch the idjit box by your lonesome. That didn't work out so hot.

That IS one cool test pattern.

The one I remember was B&W and had an Indian head in the center of what looked like a target,
