This won't take a minute.
Tuesday, 09.23.08 @ 11:40AM International Medical Corps (IMC) is a global, humanitarian, nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs.
Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, International Medical Corps is a private, voluntary, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in underserved communities worldwide.
IMC needs help from you with a program that could mean big bucks from American Express. Chessia says: My organization, International Medical Corps, was nominated to be one of the Top 25 in American Express' Members Projects, "Saving the Lives of Malnourished Children." Our project was chosen out of 1,190 projects and is now eligible to receive up to $1.5 million to help feed hungry children, but the voting ends next Tuesday and we need your help to spread the word. The "click to help" program is explained here.
International Medical Corps is rated highly by Charity Navigator for spending almost all their money on programs, very little on administration, and almost nothing on fundraising (yeah, I checked them out). So although there are probably other deserving charities in the running for this funding from American Express, IMC would be a good choice for your vote... and besides, if I hadn't told you this, you'd be voting for none of them!
So click here to vote.
But of course, you can donate money directly to IMC also. In fact, donations received before October 31st will be matched dollar for dollar by a benefactor.
Thank you!
