They say if only one person is traveling a long distance, it's cheaper to fly than to drive. So I calculated that the last time I drove to NYC, I used 5 tanks of gas, $50 each, at $3 a gallon. Gas is now around $4 a gallon, but thanks to some serious car maintenance, my range has gone from 310 miles per tank to 365 miles per tank. Add an overnight stay on the way, plus meals. But a taxi ride from the airport will be as much as a motel on the road, and airport food would be as much as several grocery stops on the road. Plus I'd still have to drive 100 miles to an airport from home. OK, how much is a plane ticket? Wow! I may have saved some money if I'd booked a month earlier, but as it is, it's still $200 cheaper to drive.
Good thing, too, because last night's downpour delayed flights for hours. I managed to keep going through the downpour. And I have plenty to rant about directions from MapQuest, Google Maps, and Yahoo when I get the time.
Anyway, I finally figured out how to make wifi work, so I thought I'd check in before I attend a blogger conference. This is the only picture I've taken so far... I've seen three of these "everything is 99 cents or more!" stores so far. Maybe every store should just use the same name.
