Normal Programming to Resume

Ah HA! I'm back online, sooner than expected. Thanks for your patience. The untimely death of my old Mac Mini, after exactly three years of backbreaking labor and a lingering illness, left me completely out of touch with the world for a little while. But I now have a new Mac Mini with extra RAM installed. Thanks to Brother Bill, who drove me to Knoxville to pick up a new one at the Apple Store. Yes, I could've gone by myself, but he LIKES to go to the Apple Store. Also thanks to one of my fine employers, who generously gave me some funds to offset the unexpected expense.
The bad news is that the old CPU refuses to give up the files on my hard drive. That means I've lost all my joke files, html codes, bookmarks, pictures, and some rather important software. I'm rebuilding from scratch, which means things may be a bit slow around here til I find my bearings. There may also be some reruns, but only the visitors who've been around for years would notice. My brother took the old unit, supposedly to consult with other geeks about retrieval, although I have my suspicions that this year's Fourth of July Computer Trap Shoot might feature a Mac Mini.
The good news is that I can type at normal speeds, and pages even load like they should with broadband. Using this new setup is a pleasure, so I'll be working hard to bring you some quality time wasters. Thanks for all the kind messages (I'm glad I have web-based mail) and for hanging in there.

I have missed my daily Misscellania.
Surely you know that all good IT systems have a backup - even if they often don't work when called upon.
Just a tip; instead of letting that mini get sent off to the trap shoot, how about eBaying it? Surely that machine (sans hard drive, of course) could fetch a little something to help ease the pain of its demise. Who knows; you might have a following of groupies that will bid the thing into the stratosphere.
(If you do it, I'd accept 7% for coming up with the idea! ;o)
