Catbite Update

I appreciate all the comments and emails I received about my run-in with an excited cat. Two days later, my wounds are much better.

Yesterday was a bit rough because I could hardly type with my left hand. The bruising showed up, making it look a lot worse than it really was. I should have taken a picture, since the bruising looks better today. But I never had any red streaks or pain above my elbow. Today I can use my fingers as well as ever. There is still a little pain when I straighten my arm. It really smarts when I try to lift something, because that flexes the affected muscle. I think I will be all better again within a few days. Now, to tackle the bloodstains on the carpet...

To remove bloodstains - pour hydrogen peroxide directly on the blood stains. It will bubble up then blot it w/paper towels. Repeat until they ar eall gone. Will not harm your carpets. Good luck and glad your wounds are healing

Try a little WD-40 or Isopropyl alcohol. You could also try a little chicken soup; prob'ly won't help but it couldn't hoit.

'Course, the above are symptomatic treatments. The long range, preventative measure would be Biscuits & gravy. JUST KIDDING!!! (please do not tell the girls I said that)

I didn't post when you told about the cat bite, but you need to watch it carefully. I got bit on my thumb this summer by my Lucy Speedracer, and it swelled up and got all red by the next day. I went to the doctor and he pumped me with IV antibiotics, shots, pills...did a terrible number on my digestive system if you know what I mean, but it kept me out of the hospital and away from surgery. You don't want to take cat bites lightly.

Goodness Gracious! I hope that it's just a weird camera angle and it's not swollen like it appears to be. I'll echo everyone else's comments...cat bits are far more likely to become infected. take care of yourself, lady. if your site goes down how else will i entertain myself when i get down to Iraq?!!

Yep, I'd agree, go see a doctor, now.
Don't wait.
Cat bites are bad, cat teeth are loaded with nasty bacteria, cat claws... you don't want to think about it....
Please go see a doctor.

Is that the offending cat in the window?

My thoughts are on with the others, you should get to the doctor.

Hey, I've had cats all my life. Looks kinda scary, but okish to me... Had to go without insurance before too, risk/reward hard to justify in our minds. Im no doctor but hope all is well

I had a severe cat bite early this year. Animal control insisted I go to the doctor, and not just for their report. Although It had been more than 24 hours and I showed no signs of infection, cats have really filthy mouths. You wouldn't think so, since they clean themselves all the time.

At any rate, one thing no one has mentioned is the need for a current tetanus shot. The doctor said you can also contract that through a baite. So, check your records. There is no cure, which is why I really think you should be careful!

The only good cat is a dead cat.

Roaming cats, especially Toms are a real problem in most cities and towns, our town has so many complaints that they are trying to pass a law like the dog ordinance.Imagine a cat on a leash,a cat on a chain or even trying to keep it inside all the time.So whats the answer they come up with? All cats require a ID tag-$5 a year,a current Rabies tag-$100 court cost+fine for not having one.Owner held liable for feces pickup-same as dogs, for all damages.Limit of 3 mature cats, and still adding to the ordinance being wrote.A lot of cat lovers coming to meetings where real cat fight might break out !
