Overheard

Miss Cellania has links, doctored-up photos staring Miss C. herself and YouTube videos from anywhere and everywhere on the internet. If it's funny, you'll probably see it first on her blog. -Suzanne Broughton

Miss Cellania has a site that is to die for. Whenever it’s time for a bit of a smile, interspersed with a gaffaw or two, I head on over there. -Compass Points

If you’re jonesing for more links you may want to visit Miss Cellania’s blog. Or should I say blogs. She’s like the blogosphere’s version of that Jamaican family from In Living Color. She has more blogs than they had jobs. If she starts contributing to one more blog I’m going to stage an intervention. -Cynical-C

I could never in a million years come up with half the wonderful facts, news, links et al that pepper every post she creates. -Mad Baggage

It’s a fantastic set of funny and interesting links, jokes and pictures that she compiled *every day*!   -Neatorama

She finds the coolest, funniest stuff day after day. How on earth she does this I have no clue. -NYC Educator

I don't even know how I found Miss C, but I remember the first time I was there, I burned my chocolate chip cookies. I just couldn't stop browsing! Fun stuff over there.   -Boomer Chick

If you're not regularly heading over and reading her well compiled, link-filled-goodness posts already, then maybe you should take a step back and do some self reflection and introspection to make sure your life is headed the direction it needs to be and that you're on a path that is fulfilling to you and your fellow man, as a person and as an American. -Hoodlumman

Funniest woman alive. -Pixie

It is quite possibly one of the most extensive sites I have seen for links to humourous content. It is a virtual encyclopedia for a myriad of different jokes on different topics and still growing. So a good site and worth checking out, theres definitely something for everyone, or anyone whos up for a laugh that is!   -Mr. Joe Blog

BTW - you quite possibly put together the best, most well researched content on the web, bigtime kudos to you!  -Anita B

One place I keep going back to is Miss Cellania. She really has it going on over there. Her posts are chock full of stuff I've never seen before, along with a few old favorites I had forgotten about. Anyone that can consistently come up with that much good stuff deserves kudos. -Blue Beaver Beer

Miss Cellania - is a great read, and there’s more than enough laughs to kill an evening with, on any given day. Miss C has her fingers on the pulse of every joke on the web that you haven’t seen yet. -Saskboy

(Funny, if a tad lowbrow)  - Utopia Moment

Fabulous as usual..I appreciate all of the effort..and I am truly humbled.  -Homo Escapeons

I'm not even sure why I thought her post is funny, but it is. That's all you're getting from me. Go read it.  -konagod

YAY! Miss Cellania knows I'm alive!!  -Fuzzy Dave

Pirates of the Caribbean

pirates2poster1.jpg

Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the few movies my entire family (the three of us) can enjoy together. Its got enough violence and magic for Gothgrrl, enough romance for Princess, and enough comedy and eye candy for me. The summer it was in theatres, one of my discussion groups was abuzz. POTC made me cry! I don’t think I can stand to watch POTC again! What? I was somewhat confused til I realized they were talking about The Passion of the Christ. Ahem. Nevermind.

The long-awaited sequel entitled Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man;s Chest is opening nationwide tonight. Its got an extremely long title, and I hear the movie is quite long, too. You can read reviews here, and here, and here.

As with most Disney films, there are product tie-is for marketing purposes. I think they’ve set a record with this one!

Official movie site, where you can watch the trailer.

Wendy Wings posted some photos from the movie premiere at Disney World.

The Disney ride that inspired the movie has been re-tooled to include the movie characters.

Here’s a review of the newly-reopened ride.

Take a look at the ride on video.

Johnny Depp/Jack Sparrow Lookalike Contest Winner and runners-up.

Lookalike contest story.

Here’s a tie-in you can still win. A Volvo buried...somewhere. Find it and its yours. Buried Treasure indeed!

Pirates parody featuring icons of hand puppets. Funnier than you might think.

You could have guessed there would be a Pirates parody of Brokeback Mountain.

Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Guy’s Pectoral Muscles.

Pyrats is a cartoon, but its like, art or something. Looks good, and funny, too!

Blog of the day: Pirates of the Caribbean.

When I saw this Pirate Squirrel, I had to smile at the melding of two subjects that have become icons here.

Which Pirates of the Caribbean character are you?

And again.

The Perspicacious Pirate Puzzle is a real pirate brainbender. I had no clue. But this puzzle is just as confusing!

A POTC Word Search puzzle.

piratebraids.jpg THE ACTOR

A man went into the pet shop "I am playing in the local amateur dramatic societie’s version of Pirates of the Caribbean and need a parrot to sit on my shoulder" he said.

"I don't have any parrots at the moment , but you wouldn't want a real parrot for that. It would squawk in all the wrong places , poop on your shoulder and generally be a nuisance. What you need is a stuffed parrot . Just as realistic and easily controlled."

"Are you sure a stuffed parrot would be OK ? " asked the customer " I do want this performance to be as realistic as possible ."

"I am sure a stuffed parrot would be fine " said the pet shop owner " I have one at home . I'll bring it in and if you come back on Thursday you can have it ".

"Sorry " said the customer " I can't make it on Thursday . That's the day I'm having my leg cut off ."

THE COSTUME

It was Halloween, and the first-graders all came into class wearing their costumes. One wee lad came dressed like a pirate, and the schoolmarm sees him and asks jokingly, "So where are your buccaneers?"

And the wee lad answers, "Under my buck'n hat!"

IN THE BAR

A pirate walks into a bar with a steering wheel stuck down his pants. So the bartender asks, "Is that a steering wheel in your pants?"

And the pirate answers, "Arrr! Tis true. It's driving me nuts!"

Yes, everyone wants to get in on the act.

Thought for today: If this video is anything to go on, this is a spectacular revision to the Pirates. -Cory Doctorow on the new ride at Disney World.

After I got all the posts for this weekend in the can, I realized I wouldn't be able to do the normal promotion things. So if any of the usual suspects wants to do me a BIG favor, you could post this weekend's entries to del.icio.us, Eat My Hamster, or Stumble Upon. Thanks!

"Buck'n hat" LOL ... reminds me of a joke. I'd share it but this is a family blog, isn't it?

Ms. C. ~ Interesting! The lines for the Disneyland/World RIDES are always so long and the actual rides so short. But the lines to get into the movies are SO SHORT and the movies are SO LONG! Seems like they should FIX that! Maybe Eisner wasn't their only problem. ~ jb///

We went to see the new POTC movie at 12:01 Friday morning, or late Thursday night, however you want to look at it. We had to drive 45 minutes, which wasn't too bad, in order to see it. The theater was packed and many were dressed in pirate attire. When the flick started, the crowd said, "Arrrrr!" My daughter, who is a BIG lover of all things pirate, said, "I'm home." The movie is really great. It was better that I expected, since I've come to not get my hopes up for sequels. I won't ruin anything for anybody. This movie makes you REALLY want to see the next one!!
As for those Jack Sparrow look-a-likes... no one can quite match up to Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow.
The Kiera Knightly's Jaw site is pretty funny.
I am Will Turner too in that Which Character are You Quiz. I'm glad I didn't end up being Davey Jones! :)

I hope you have a nice weekend.
Yo, ho, yo, ho, a pirate's life for me...

I want to see this movie, but not this weekend! I will wait until the crowds die down. Must see Johnny Depp! ;-)
