And this, fellow readers, is why Miss Cellania is probably the best writer we've ever had. A thing of beauty. -YesButNoButYes

...Miss Cellania who’s wonderfully funny and knowledgeable and also happens to write for Mental Floss. Her personal blog is updated as often as any multi-contributor blog site and has some wonderful gems... -Infinite Well

Miss Cellania has links, doctored-up photos staring Miss C. herself and YouTube videos from anywhere and everywhere on the internet. If it's funny, you'll probably see it first on her blog. -Suzanne Broughton

Miss Cellania has a site that is to die for. Whenever it’s time for a bit of a smile, interspersed with a gaffaw or two, I head on over there. -Compass Points

If you’re jonesing for more links you may want to visit Miss Cellania’s blog. Or should I say blogs. She’s like the blogosphere’s version of that Jamaican family from In Living Color. She has more blogs than they had jobs. If she starts contributing to one more blog I’m going to stage an intervention. -Cynical-C

I could never in a million years come up with half the wonderful facts, news, links et al that pepper every post she creates. -Mad Baggage

It’s a fantastic set of funny and interesting links, jokes and pictures that she compiled *every day*! -Neatorama

She finds the coolest, funniest stuff day after day. How on earth she does this I have no clue. -NYC Educator

I don't even know how I found Miss C, but I remember the first time I was there, I burned my chocolate chip cookies. I just couldn't stop browsing! Fun stuff over there. -Boomer Chick

If you're not regularly heading over and reading her well compiled, link-filled-goodness posts already, then maybe you should take a step back and do some self reflection and introspection to make sure your life is headed the direction it needs to be and that you're on a path that is fulfilling to you and your fellow man, as a person and as an American. -Hoodlumman

Funniest woman alive. -Pixie

It is quite possibly one of the most extensive sites I have seen for links to humourous content. It is a virtual encyclopedia for a myriad of different jokes on different topics and still growing. So a good site and worth checking out, theres definitely something for everyone, or anyone whos up for a laugh that is! -Mr. Joe Blog

BTW - you quite possibly put together the best, most well researched content on the web, bigtime kudos to you! -Anita B

One place I keep going back to is Miss Cellania. She really has it going on over there. Her posts are chock full of stuff I've never seen before, along with a few old favorites I had forgotten about. Anyone that can consistently come up with that much good stuff deserves kudos. -Blue Beaver Beer

Miss Cellania - is a great read, and there’s more than enough laughs to kill an evening with, on any given day. Miss C has her fingers on the pulse of every joke on the web that you haven’t seen yet. -Saskboy

(Funny, if a tad lowbrow) -Utopia Moment

Fabulous as usual..I appreciate all of the effort..and I am truly humbled. -Homo Escapeons

I'm not even sure why I thought her post is funny, but it is. That's all you're getting from me. Go read it. -konagod

YAY! Miss Cellania knows I'm alive!! -Fuzzy Dave

It's A Wonderful Life

wonderfulposter2.jpgAlthough it wasn’t a hit when it premiered in the summer of 1946, Its A Wonderful Life (IAWL) grew over the years into a classic holiday film for all ages. The first time I saw it (many years ago), I was unaware of what I was about to see. I watched it on TV at home alone. Two hours into the movie, I wondered if it was going anywhere, but I kept on, because I love Jimmy Stewart. By the end of the movie, I was bawling. Big, mushy, sentimotional tears. Ever since, its been one of my favorites. Right up there with Casablanca. They don’t make ‘em like that anymore. The film follows George Bailey, an average guy in a small town who dreams of big things that never transpire. Its funny how real life interferes, isn’t it? One Christmas Eve, disaster strikes, and George contemplates suicide, because “You’re worth more dead than alive,” as his nemesis Mr. Potter puts it. At his lowest point, a somewhat incompetent angel named Clarence shows up to show him what his life is really worth. You can read the entire story here.

Read this for way more than you ever wanted to know about IAWL.

Its a Wonderful Life has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity beginning in the 1970s.

IAWL has been made into a musical! Playing through December 31st in Chicago.

You recall how people would watch The Wizard of Oz and play Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon together? You can do the same with IAWL and Pink Floyd’s album Wish You Were HerewonderfullifePicard.jpg

The plot device of seeing what the world would be like without you has been used in numerous movies and TV shows. Captain Picard got a taste of it in Star Trek: TNG. Homer Simpson got the treatment, as well as Al Bundy in Married with Children. Also Kermit in The Muppet Movie. Lots more examples are cited in Wikipedia.

This tribute site has some fine stills from the film, although the clips that were attached are no longer available.

The film made the top of the list when the American Film Institute compiled their list of the Most Inspirational Movies.

What’s wrong with Its a Wonderful Life.
One of Saturday Night Live’s best routines was IAWL: The Lost Ending. Available to watch at the SNL video archives.

Saturday Night Live also did a parody of the movie, linking it to the Savings and Loan scandal of 1989.

wonderful-lifebunnies.jpgHere’s the Angry Alien version, IAWL in 30 seconds, recreated by bunnies.

Karolyn Grimes, who played Zuzu in the movie, is one of the few surviving cast members. She has a website devoted to the movie, and a webstore featuring items like the Its A Wonderful Life nightlite. Her life story was featured today on Yahoo News. (Thanks, Ed!)

The stage parody is called Its a Wonderful Death.

Take this trivia quiz on memorable lines from IAWL! I scored 100%, of course.

Its a Wonderful Internet is the internet version of Its A Wonderful Life, an interactive tale complete with levers and pulltabs for the illustrations. What if the internet had never been born?

It's A Wonderful Life

This film is like no-otherIAWL poster.jpg
It shows us something more
It has a warming centre
That reaches to the core
Watch this film and listen
There’s something all can see
The feelings growing in you
And all that we can be
There are men like Mr. Potter
That want to buy the earth
But there are men like old man Bailey
Who show their inner worth
There are those that stand for principal
Like young George who felt lifes pain
Then something changed inside him
Now new-life he could gain
Now let me tell of someone
Clarence by first name
Maybe just an odd-body
But an Angel just the same
Some say it’s just a film
But they never really saw
The message that could reach right out
And bless our Christmas more

Its a Wonderful Life. Starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed. All 2 hours and ten minutes of it, right here on your computer.

Thought for today: Dear George, Remember no man's a failure who has friends. -Clarence Oddbody

It's A Wonderful Life was Jimmy Stewart's first movie after returning from duty with the US Eight Air Force in WW II, including his having flown/led 20 bombing missions against Germany. After all he saw and survived, It's A Wonderful Life proved a more fitting movie than most knew.

I live in Jimmy Stewart's hometown in Pennsylvania. His boyhood home is a block up from where I live, actually. Nice house.

I've seen the beginning and end about 30 times. Last year, I saw the middle for the first time (where he sees life if he's dead). For some reason, I hate that part now! This year I once again just watched the beginning and end ...
