The pictures from my latest road trip are ready! I dropped my digital camera on the sidewalk the first day, so had to rely on photos from my Mom and from the kid’s disposable cameras. Can you guess where we went from this photo? Yes, I took the daughters to New York City for the first time. They were enchanted. We saw the Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, Times Square, The Empire State Building, Chinatown, and Macy’s. But these children are actually quite well traveled, for hillbillies. They’ve both been to Chicago, San Francisco, Atlanta, Cincinnati, and Orlando. Princess has also been to Nanchang, Guangzhou (formerly Canton), Hong Kong, Los Angeles, and St. Louis. Gothgrrl has also been to Bangalore, Chennai (formerly Madras), and Copenhagen. But I think they like New York best so far.
For the regulars that visit here, I’m happy to pass along the news that Dick is in love! See the happy couple at his site. Sometimes life does give you another chance! Now... when’s my turn?
One for the kids: Make My People Sing. Click on and off the little characters to make them harmonize or stop. Nonsensical, but fun. You can save a sequence and send via email. (via Dump Trumpet)
Motherpie needs your help! She’s doing research on bloggers, especially women, especially mothers. Please take this online survey, and pass it to your friends to take.

November 9th was Stand in a Queue Day, and the blog Standinaqueue collected stories about standing in line that day from all over. One of them is mine!
The internet has made the world a smaller place. We can communicate with people all over the world, make friends with similar interests, and even find long-distance love. Another use for the internet is creative collaboration. The Clip Bandits are a musical group consisting of four guys (three are featured in this video) who have never met, but who write and perform music together. The ClipBandits live in Los Angeles CA, New York City and Austin Texas. You can vote for Clip Bandits and/or other bands at the YouTube Underground Contest through November 17th.

Fish faces! This is a clever use for face paint. For what purpose, I don’t know. Maybe its art! (via Dump Trumpet)

You may have seen David Armond’s interpretation of Natalie Imbruglia’s “Torn”. I think I've posted the short version before. However, this full-length performance from Amnesty International’s Secret Policeman’s Ball a couple of weeks ago is worth another look.

FARTS
(lifted from Say No To Crack)
The doctor asks, “So what seems to be the problem?”
The patient replies, “Doc, I’ve got really bad gas … I just fart all the time”
“Hmmm, ok … go on”
“My farts do not stink and make no sound, but it’s rather alarming that I’m cranking them out all the time. We’ve been here for five minutes and I’ve farted six times. And as I stated, you couldn’t hear or smell them, right?”
The doctor picks up his pad and paper, then says “Hmmm … here’s a prescription I want you to fill.”
“This is GREAT doc! This prescription, will it really clear up my farts?”
“No,” sighs the Doctor, “The prescription is to clear your sinuses. Next week I want you back here for a hearing test.”

You’ve seen several videos around lately made by people who took a photo of themselves every day for years. Here’s one that beats them all.

LOVE POETRY
(by guys)
May you live as long as you want to;
May you want to as long as you live.
If I'm asleep when you want to, wake me;
If I'm awake and don't want to, make me.
Here's to you, I'm glad that I metcha,
And now that I met you, I'm glad that I letcha,
And now that I letcha,
I betcha I'd letcha again.
Here's to the drink that creates desire.
Not the kind that burns down shanties,
But the kind that burns down panties.
Here's to the qirl in the little red shoes,
She drinks my liquor, she drinks my booze.
She has no cherry but that's no sin,
She has the box the cherry came in.
Here's to the girl dressed in black,
She's dressed so fine, there's nothing to slack.
She feels so fine and kisses so sweet,
She makes things stand, that have no feet.
Here's to an hour of sweet repose,
Turn to tummy and toes to toes,
Then after an hour of such delight,
It's fanny to fanny for the rest of the night.
Now that I'm old and feeble,
And pilot light is out;
What used to be my sex appeal is now my waterspout.
I used to be embarrassed to make the thing behave,
For every single morning it would stand and watch me shave.
But now I'm getting old and it gives me the blues,
To have the thing hang down and watch me tie my shoes.
God made little boys, made them out of string,
He had a little left, made a little thing.
God made little girls, made them out of lace,
He ran a little short, and left a little space.
Thank You God.
Thought for today: A pat on the back is only a few centimeters from a kick in the butt.

I'm glad to see that SPOB is still alive and kicking. I have the first one on tape (somewhere) with Sting's amazing version of Roxanne on it.
And your daughters are so beautiful!!!!! Traveling opens so many doors, and it will be the best experience for them.
